It’s already a go-to meal for many, but now there’s an extra incentive – if ever one was needed – to grab yourself a chicken parmigiana.
Pubs and clubs across the region have jumped on board the “Parma for a Farmer” initiative, which sees a slice of the ever-popular meal’s cost given to Rural Aid’s Buy a Bale campaign.
Most participating venues have vowed to give the drought-relief charity $1 for every parma – also known as a ‘parmy’ or ‘parmi’ – sold.
However, some venues have taken their fundraising efforts even further by offering a limited-time deal to maximise the amount of money raised.
Five dollars from every chicken parmigiana sold at Miranda RSL Club for the entire month of August will go towards helping farmers.

“Miranda RSL and the Sutherland community are supporting our Aussie farmers by participating in the Parma For A Farmer charity appeal,” a post on the club’s Facebook page said.
“For every Parmigiana Schnitzel purchased at the 615 Brazzerie the club will donate $5 to the appeal which is supporting the Buy A Bale scheme.”
The Banksia Hotel posted on its Facebook page: “No great produce = No tasty food”
“During August we're making parmas for farmers. $25 parmys for lunch or dinner, Mon-Sun with $5 of every parmy being collected to buy as many bales as we can to give farmers a helping hand. Help us add to the $200 we're going to kick things off with,” the post said.
Elsewhere Mike's Grill venues at Sutherland, Gymea and Ramsgate are supporting the campaign with $1 donated to the "Buy a Bale" campaign for every parmigiana sold in August.
