A boy, 14, who was found in a Kogarah laneway just after midnight had to be rescued three days ago after climbing to the top of a live power pole in Sutherland.
The boy’s mother told media at Kogarah Police Station on Saturday she thought “a guardian angel” was watching over her son, who has autism.
She said he had climbed from the balcony of their Blakehurst home on to a trampoline before beginning his long walk.
It was the second incident in three days involving the boy, who had to be rescued from the power pole at Sutherland on Thursday.
On Thursday, police and NSW Fire and Rescue were called to the corner of Eton Street and Park Street, Sutherland, about 1.20pm after reports that a child was at the top of a pole near live power lines.
The boy was to brought to safety after power to the area was cut by Ausgrid.
He did not sustain any injuries during the ordeal and was later reunited with his relieved parents.
Early today (Saturday), police appealed for public assistance to help find the parents or carers of a boy, believed to be aged 9-11, who was found in Wicks Lane at 12.40am.
About 8.30am, police advised his mother had been located and they would soon be reunited.
“When I woke up this morning I thought he would be sleeping underneath the house,” she said.
“But when I couldn't find him I had a phone call from my cousin John.
“I had my mechanic calling me, I had my painter and then the police called me.”
Update
The mother of a boy who was found wandering the streets of Kogarah early today has been located.
”Following inquiries, just after 8am, the boy’s mother was located and she will be reunited with him shortly,” a police spokesman said.
“Police would like to thank the media and the community for their assistance.”

Police are appealing to the public for assistance after a child was discovered wandering the streets at Kogarah overnight.
About 12.40am today, a boy, believed to be aged 9-11, was discovered wandering alone in Wicks Lane.
Police from St George Police Area Command attended and commenced a search of the area with the child but have been unable to locate his parents or carers.
He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 155cm tall, of a thin build, with short dark hair, pale complexion, and brown eyes.
He is wearing a long grey pyjamas with ‘marvel’ characters on them.
The boy suffers a medical condition and has not been able to identify himself to officers or provide any clues about his identity or home address.
The boy is not wearing shoes.
