New reverse vending machines have been installed at Caringbah Bowling and Recreation Club.
State MP and Attorney-General Mark Speakman said, the extra outlet at the club in Willarong Road meant there were now three Return and Earn sites in the Cronulla area.
More than 3.6 million containers had been collected at the other two locations – the Sharks leagues club and Flip Out trampoline centre at Caringbah, he said.
”More than 580 million have been collected across NSW,” he said.
Reverse vending machines provide 10 cents refunds on eligible containers in three ways.
Users can:
- Receive the refund into a registered PayPal account by scanning the myTOMRA app code on a smartphone at the machine
- Collect a printed voucher that can be redeemed for either cash or an in-store purchase at the retail partner (Coles is the store for the new machines).
- Donate to one of the donation partners listed on the machine
Local community groups, schools, sports groups and charities can apply to become a local donation partner on the machine so people returning containers to the site can choose to donate them their refund.
