Kogarah High School student Sarah Firdausi has won the world championship prize in the Chinese Recitation Competition, held on August 9 in Beijing.
She represented Australia in the competition where she competed against other non-Chinese finalists from Canada, South Africa, Europe and the US.
Sarah, 17, who is of Malaysian heritage, took up an interest in studying Chinese.
The aim of the competition is to improve the understanding of the Chinese language and culture and strengthen the relationship between Australia and China.
