Sans Souci Leisure Centre’s 50-metre pool will reopen on September 29 following a $1 million refurbishment.
The upgrade includes refurbishment of the toddlers’ pool.
Work started April and involved structural concrete repair, joint repair to existing concrete slabs, re-waterproofing and new tiling.
The work is being undertaken under the NSW Government’s Stronger Communities Fund Program and is part of Georges River Council’s Aquatic Facilities Refurbishment Program.
The council awarded the tender earlier this year after hearing from representatives of the Sans Souci Sea Devils Swim Club on the deteriorated standards at the pool including broken down heaters and broken and cracked tiles.
Georges River Council mayor Kevin Greene said the works would significantly improve the pools and would bring the 50-metre pool back to International Swimming Federation standards.
The indoor 25-metre pool and gym have remained open while the works have taken place.
