Sutherland Shire gymnast Elizabeth Atkins has brought home a gold medal from the 2018 NSW State Challenge Championships for Women’s Artistic Gymnastics.
More than 200 athletes came together from around the state to compete over two days at the Sydney Gymnastics Centre, Rooty Hill.
Atkins won a gold medal in the Level 7 cartwheels gymnastics competition.
Making its debut in the Gymnastics NSW calendar, the championships provided athletes and clubs an opportunity to participate at a state level of competition in a fun, positive environment.
With music, fun and ribbon awards for each apparatus, the championships provided an enjoyable competition experience for athletes who may have had limited training hours due to restricted access to facilities or equipment.
The event proved to be a huge success, with Gymnastics NSW congratulating all competitors on a “fantastic” two days of competition.
