A Golf NSW program to get older people into golf is proving to be a hit across the state – and it’s coming to the shire.
Registration for Get into Golf for Seniors at Cronulla Gold Club is open until August 28.
The program, launched in 2016, will run on Wednesdays from August 29 to September 26.
Participant numbers have climbed with more clubs signing up as venue hosts.
More than 625 people have got a taste for the game at 65 affiliated clubs where participants learn about fundamentals from hitting the ball to chipping and putting as well as golf etiquette and rules.
Interest in golf by those aged over 50 is increasing with more than 40 per cent of people taking part in the program having never played before.
“It’s wonderful to read the positive responses from the hundreds of golfers who have completed the program,” Golf NSW general manager of golf, Graeme Phillipson, said.
“It’s clear they have enjoyed the program, enjoyed learning about the game and will continue to enjoy the health benefits the sport delivers in later life.”
