Sylvania’s Marie Linker is off to Paris Fashion Week this year, and she is bringing glam to the fore.
The owner of Double Bay boutique L’Elegante willl feature in the show in September.
Ms Linker has designed and dressed well-known female figures including The Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson and Jennifer Hawkins, and many others she is sworn to secrecy about.
This is the first time she is taking her designs outside of Australia, showcasing them at Le Grand Intercontinental.
The Romanian-born fashionista grew up around fashion. Her mother and aunt were dressmakers by trade, and as a child she recalls being surrounded by beautiful fabric.
Her passion started at a young age, making paper dresses because real fabric was too expensive for her to play with.
By 21 years of age, she set up shop, launching her vision of bringing special occasion wear to Australian women, offering made-to-measure dresses for mothers-of-the-bride and more.
Her create eye was scouted as a buyer by industry leader FJ Benjamin, who was Australia’s exclusive distributor for international brands including Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino and Moschino.
Then came the major fashion capital of the world – Milan, London, New York and of course, Paris, before returning to Sydney to head up her style call.
She has been invited for the past three to present her work during Paris Fashion Week, but this year she will debut a runway show.
