New toll gantry infrastructure is being installed at the King Georges Road on and off ramps at Beverly Hills as part of the work to duplicate the New M5 corridor.
Tolls will not be charged until these toll point structures become operational when the New M5 opens in early 2020.
Testing of the tolling equipment to ensure accuracy is not expected to start until later this year and the community and motorists will be provided with advance notice.
Opening to traffic in early 2020, the New M5 will run parallel to the existing M5 East to provide a non-stop underground journey between Kingsgrove and St Peters, doubling capacity on the M5 corridor from two to four lanes in each direction.
It will cut up to half an hour from an average peak journey between Liverpool and the South Sydney, and allow motorists to travel from the King Georges Road Interchange at Beverly Hills to St Peters in around 10 minutes.
WestConnex will have a capped, distance-based tolling system, meaning motorists will only pay for the section of motorway they use.
For the New M5 section of WestConnex, the maximum toll will be $6.43 from King Georges Road, Beverly Hills to the St Peters interchange.
The maximum toll for WestConnex will be capped at $8.95.
A toll will be introduced on the M5 East in early 2020, when the New M5 oppens.
The toll on the M5 East from King Georges Road, Beverly Hills to General Holmes Drive will be $6.42.
Installation of the Westbound King Georges Road exit toll gantry structure will finish in October.
For the Main line at King Georges Road, work is expected to finish November.
For the Eastbound King Georges Road exit gantry structure installation will finish in December.
Work will mainly be carried out at night when traffic is expected to be low and during the standard monthly M5 East shutdowns. Minimal impact on traffic is expected.
