The fascinating history of the Ramsgate Baths will investigated in a talk by local historian Dan McAloon at Hurstville Museum and Gallery on September 19.
Called Sydney’s Forgotten Aquatic Centre and Zoo, the talk will show that Ramsgate Baths was more than just a place to swim.
It was a summer spot with dance halls, penny scrambles and even had a small zoo.
Located on the corner of The Grand Parade and Ramsgate Road, the pool closed in 1972 to be replaced by Coles supermarket.
Sydney’s Forgotten Aquatic Centre and Zoo will be presented as part of the History Council of NSW’s Speaker Connect program for 2018, supported by Create NSW.
It will held on Wednesday, September at 10.30 am at the Hurstville Museum and Gallery, 14 MacMahon St, Hurstville.
It is a free talk but bookings are preferred. Book at https://www.eventbrite.com.au
A light morning tea will be provided.
