Sutherland Shire welcomed a new season in full flair with the 2018 Cronulla Spring Fair on the weekend.
From dance troupes, karate kicks and plates of tasty treats, to giant slides, rides and face-painting, the biggest community event of the year on the shire calendar was a hit.
Fair organiser Thomas Staunton said crowd numbers were again strong this year.
“We had some unfavourable weather on Saturday but that didn’t dampen the numbers over the weekend,” he said.
“As a whole, numbers were slightly lighter than last year but much stronger on the Sunday and overall, consistent with last year’s figures around that 40,000 mark, so still very busy.”
There to take selfies with the crowd was Prime Minister Scott Morrison, who dressed for the springtime occasion in pink.
“The crowd loved meeting our PM and it was very nice of him to take the time to come down,” Mr Staunton said.
“He said he’s been attending for years. Even the highest job of the country wouldn’t keep him away from the Cronulla Spring Fair.”
