Water main renewal work at Cronulla will continue at night for the rest of the week.
Traffic was delayed on Tuesday morning when work at the intersection of Kingsway and Elouera Road finished almost two hours behind schedule.
“Unfortunately, our crew had to go over the agreed 5am finish due to complications with the process of isolating the water main,” a Sydney Water spokesperson said.
Sydney Water apologises to residents and motorists for this inconvenience.”
The spokesperson said renewal work on sections of the water main along Kingsway had been completed, with individual properties now being connected to the main.
“Once complete, this will improve the reliability of the water services in this area, and make the pipe less prone to breaks.
“Sydney Water notified local residents on August 28 that we would need to complete the final connections at night, including the dates and hours of work.
“Our night work hours are approved in partnership with RMS, and reduces disruption to daytime traffic.
“We expect this work to be finished by the end of this week.”
