Regarding Scott Morrison’s comments on public schools.
I was prepared to give our new Prime Minister a go but he lost me in the first few days with his ridiculous comments about public schools.
If he wishes to send his daughters to a Baptist school that’s his right but he should not justify this decision by saying it’s because he wants them taught reading and writing, not transgender issues.
A truly strange remark - of course such things are not taught in NSW schools.
Parents in public schools want their children taught "the basics" too and this is what is happening.
The Sutherland Shire has some of the best public schools in the state so to denigrate them in this way is not just wrong but insulting to all of the students, teachers and parents involved in his electorate and beyond.
If he wishes to heal the rifts of the past few weeks and govern for all Australians he could start by apologising for these ill-informed remarks.
