Rockdale company St George Recycling has become one of Sydney’s biggest Earn and Return Depot processing 280,000 containers a week.
“Excluding Return and Earn themselves at Eastern Creek, we are now in the top three in the Sydney metropolitan region in terms of volumes processed for an Automated Depot,” Adrian said.
“Eastern Creek well over a million containers a month but this is for all of Sydney,” St George Recycling owner Adrian Arbuckle said.
“We do about 280,000 to 300,000 a week,” he said.
“Being the only bulk collection facility covering the St George and Sutherland Shire areas we are definitely punching above our weight.
“Our bins are in more schools, pubs and clubs and homes than any other Return and Earn Collection point.”
For Adrian it was a gamble that has paid off, after splitting his company from his father’s business.
“My father and I split the company in half on May 20. Dad is doing scrap metal and I am doing solely Return and Earn,” Adrian said.
“My revenue in total is now exceeding what both companies were doing at the time of the split
“We got our first bulk sorting machine in February and our second in June. We have two trucks on the road and have employed four new staff, bring our numbers to six.
“We are looking at increasing the volume by 40 to 60 per cent by Christmas.”
