Taren Point Bowling Club has dominated the Women’s Bowls NSW State Championships.
The club hosted the 2018 championships from September 3 to 11, finishing the competition with two championships and two runner-up titles. The feat makes Taren Point the most successful host club in the history of the event.
18-year-old Louise Cronan kick-started Taren Point’s campaign with a second place finish in the opens singles section.
Kate Walker and David Axon teamed up for the mixed pairs where they won the championship match in straight sets.
Cronan and Walker then combined with teammate Katrina Wright to take out the state triples title. Cronan, Walker and Wright each won their individual matches without reaching the required amount of ends.
The club’s open fours team consisting of Beverley Harrison, Barbara Hvass, Kim Brough and Bronwyn McPherson finished second to a team led by Commonwealth Games gold medallist and former world champion Natasha Scott.
The club will now turn their focus towards its open day, which will be held on Sunday, October 14. All money raised from the event will go to Bowl4Dreams, which helps adults suffering from life-threatening cancer.
