For the past 60 years, Civic Disability Services has given people employment and accommodation opportunities within the community.
The non-profit organisation celebrated its anniversary this year at Audley Dance Hall.
More than 700 people in Sydney and regional areas receive Civic’s vital services including shared independent living, short-term accommodation, supported employment and training and clinical services.
“From our pioneering beginnings Civic has developed and grown to become and establishment that continues to look towards the future as a dynamic and thriving organisation where people come first,” Civic chairman Luke Streater said.
“Civic humbly began when a group of committed local parents, who had adult children with disability, came together to find solutions for their sons and daughters. Together they recognised that their children had a lot to give but had little opportunity.
“The concept of supporting people with disability to reach their potential is our priority. This year Civic was acknowledged as one of Westpac’s Top 200 Businesses of Tomorrow.”
