Detectives have charged a man over a series of alleged historical child sex offences.
A new complaint resulted in the St George Police Area Command re-activating Strike Force Beantree in August 2018.
The strike force was first formed in 2009 to investigate allegations of child indecent and sexual assault.
At about 12.30pm on Thursday, October 4, detectives went to Silverwater and charged a 75-year-old man with 13 offences.
The alleged offences include six counts of aggravated indecent assault of a victim under 16; four counts of inciting a person under 16 years to commit an act of indecency; one count of committing an act of indecency with a person under 16 years, one count of procuring a child under 14 years for pornographic purposes and one count of indecent assault on a male under 14 years.
Police allege the complaints relate to alleged offences that occurred across a period from 1980 to 2005 when the accused man operated a privately-owned movie theatre at Kogarah.
Police also allege the victims ranged in age from 11 to 15 years.
The charges follow the execution of a search warrant on the man’s home at Kogarah Bay in August.
The accused has been ordered to appear via audio/visual link before Sutherland Local Court on October 5.
The strike force’s inquiries are continuing.
