A home nursing care service has evolved by changing its name and opening a new office – marking a positive move for Sutherland Shire.
Nurses on Wheels is a charity that has been based at Bexley for almost 60 years.
It is now known as Clever Care Now, and has made Caringbah its new home.
The service meets the growing health and social needs of the community through medical checks including blood pressure and blood sugar testing, flu vaccination programs and day trips to promote socialisation.
One of its key services is the day-tripper program – a door-to-door service that takes people aged older than 65 years of age to see the sights around Sydney, accompanied by a qualified nurse.
This year it also launched its Ready to Read Community Literacy Program – a non-profit initiative with the vision of increasing early literacy levels, supporting the literacy development of preschool-aged children in St George and the shire.
Clever Care Now chief executive Jill Deering says the re-branding aims to reflect the broader range of services and health programs that are delivered from an accessible street-front office.
“The longstanding home nursing side of the organisation will continue to focus on providing timely and professional service to promote independence, health and well-being – a rapidly growing need in our community,” she said.
“We are looking forward to being more accessible and visible in the shire, to serve children, parents, grandparents and businesses.”
