Hurstville-based gymnastics club Avanti Rhythmics has been named the sixth overall champion club in Australia following success at the National Clubs Carnival.
Avanti gymnasts were among more than 14,000 patricipants who competed at the 15-day carnival on the Gold Coast in late September.
Annabelle Accetta-Kalkandis, Cassandra Shi and Jodie Hoh combined to bring home 11 medals for the club.
Accetta-Kalkandis finished the competition as the national level seven junior champion. She won silver in the freehand and ribbon events, and bronze in the rope and hoop disciplines.
Shi, a level five junior, was named the national all around-runner up in her level after finished second in the clubs event, and third in freehand.
Level five senior Hoh also produced an outstanding performance, winning silver medals in freehand and clubs, and bronze in the all around.
The carnival saw gymnasts compete in seven disciplines including acrobatics, men’s and women’s artistic gymnastics, rhythmic, aerobics, gymnastics for all, and trampoline.
Several other Avanti gymnasts also finished with numerous top 20 places.
Kirrawee-based Shire Gymnastics was named the second overall champion club, behind Le Ray Gymnastics Ravenswood.
