Re the letter to the editor ‘‘What’s a safe slow down time?’’ (Your View, October 3).
I agree fully with Rod’s logical assessment as I too have been a little concerned about the slow down rule on high speed roads.
While I support the 40km/h rule, there does need to be some leeway by the authorities that it may not be safe under all circumstances for the vehicle driver to brake down to this speed in time.
I know that when driving my truck, despite having all wheel disc’s (not the norm), it certainly does not stop on a dime.
I need to take time to check my rear mirrors and rear camera carefully to see if its safe before potentially standing on the brakes short of any emergency situation in front of me.
