New and extended weekday clearways on Henry Lawson Drive, Forest Road and Stoney Creek Road, between Padstow Heights and Penshurst, will start next month.
The clearways will operate in both directions from 6am to 10am and 3pm to 7pm, on weekdays, starting from Monday, November 5.
“Motorists are reminded that any vehicles parked in the clearway on or after the November 5 risk being fined and towed,” a spokesman for Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) said.
“Work to install clearway signs will start on Saturday, October 20 and finish on Sunday, November 4, weather permitting.
“The new and extended weekday clearways will replace existing ‘No Parking’, ‘No Stopping’ and unrestricted parking during clearway hours on Henry Lawson Drive, Forest Road and Stoney Creek Road.
“Clearways help improve journey times by making all lanes available to traffic during clearway times, which reduces congestion and helps motorists get to their destination sooner.
“A single parked car can cause major delays on busy road corridors during peak times, so it is important to ensure all lanes are available to improve journey reliability.”
The spokesman said RMS engaged with the community about proposed alternative business parking on Penshurst Street, to offset two short stay business spaces that will be removed from Stoney Creek Road during clearways hours.
“Following consultation with Georges River Council, there will be three additional half-hour parking spaces and two one-hour parking spaces on Penshurst Street,” he said.
