Two high school students from Sutherland Shire got the acting bug this month when they had the starring chance to spend a week with one of Australia’s leading theatre companies.
Sydney Theatre Company hosted 25 year 10 and 11 students from NSW for annual work experience.
Among them, Cronulla High School’s Kaitlin Walsh and St John Bosco College’s Katie Walsh, who were chosen from hundreds of applicants from across the state.
Each day during the week, students focused on a different department of the theatre, looking at programming, direction, set and costume design, marketing and corporate sponsorship.
Students worked in groups to complete activities in the roles of different creatives and staff.
They toured the theatre company, participated in panel discussions and workshops, before presenting an idea for production.
