It is now just over 12 months since Georges River Council was elected by the ratepayers.
I am interested in the lack of public communication and consultation which is happening in the Local Government Area.
In old Hurstville we received Council Comment which, though having multiple photos of the Mayor, was delivered to each letter box in the area.
We all had some idea of what was happening. The Leader had a regular column and sometimes public notices. Ratepayers sometimes were informed by letter of what was going on. It was OK.
These days council seems to think everyone is glued to the council website. Most people I know don’t look there or if they do they find it too difficult to navigate.
Haven’t seen a Council Comment for years. Canterbury Bankstown and Bayside councils have very informative news letters which continue to be hand delivered.
Not all ratepayers are computer savvy but continue to pay rates and should know what is happening in MacMahon Street Hurstville.
Time for councillors to bring all ratepayers into the loop.
