2000s: A fleet-footed escapee from Royal National Park had the jump on Leading Senior Constable Arthur Kollias in 2006 after swimming the Georges River and leading Hurstville police on a merry chase through the streets of St George.
1960s: Miranda MP Tim Walker (left) and principal Harold Goodwin with student leaders at Port Hacking High School, which was the first comprehensive high school in Sutherland Shire when it opened in 1959.
Several other new high schools quickly followed to cater for the growing population.

1980s: There was no shortage of muscle when Ramsgate mum Erika Giesen, 30, posed with bodybuilding supremo turned actor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Ramsgate bodybuilder and entrepreneur Paul Graham after winning the Miss International title in the US in 1986.
1990s: Port Hacking became so silted in 1994 that Dolans Bay resident and yachtsman, Robert (Bob) Bowerman, watched by John Pukridge, was able to walk at low tide from Burraneer Point to Bonnie Vale.
