IT’S not even November, but Sutherland Shire singer Mark Vincent is already in the spirit of Christmas with the release of his new album The Most Wonderful Time of the Year this Friday.
The album is a heart-warming and joyous collection of songs that celebrate the festive season, and includes duets with Marina Prior and UK tenor Russell Watson.
It features O Holy Night, White Christmas, The Holy City, O Come, All Ye Faithful, and Hark! the Herald Angels Sing.
“I come from a very large Italian family, so you can imagine Christmas is a very big deal for us,” Vincent says.
‘‘I have long dreamed of recording a Christmas album that captures the beautiful traditions of the festive season.
‘‘Over the years these songs have brought so much joy to my family and I, and it is my pleasure to give back that same joy by making this album; it was my time to record a Christmas album, as Christmas is the most beautiful day of the year.”
The new album features the Sydney International Orchestra, conducted by long-time Vincent collaborator Chong Lim.
“I got to work with Chong Lim again on this album, and to have my ninth album out before the age of 25 is something of which I’m really proud.”
In 2009, Vincent stunned viewers with his outstanding version of Nessun Dorma on the third season of Australia’s Got Talent, eventually winning and being signed with Sony Music Australia.
His debut studio album, My Dream – Mio Visione peaked at No.2 on the ARIA charts.
Vincent has gone on to become one of Australia’s most popular tenors, having released eight consecutive #1 ARIA Classical Crossover Albums by the age of 24, and having earned accolades both nationally and internationally.
His last album Together, a duet album with Marina Prior, released in 2016, debuted on at No. 1 on the ARIA Classical chart.
On the back of the release of The Most Wonderful Time of the Year on October 26, Vincent will premiere his first Melbourne Christmas concert with his eight- piece band at The Palms at Crown, and hold his annual family concert in the Sutherland Shire on December 23.
The concerts will feature songs from the new album plus much loved ballads and romantic arias including Somewhere, from West Side Story, and Nessun Dorma.
Mark Vincent will perform at the Sutherland Entertainment Centre on December 23 from 2pm.
