He’s only seven years of age, but Charlie Whitley from Tharawal Public School, Illawong, is a star in the making – and he’s in some pretty famous company.
Charlie has been signed to US talent manager, Mitchell Gossett, the former senior vice president of The Talent Agency in Los Angeles and New York.
Gossett has guided the careers of Hollywood A-listers including Jennifer Lawrence, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato and Kristen Bell.
He was so impressed by the Sutherland Shire youngster earlier in the year, when he was part of a talent program in LA, winning awards for his comedy, acting, hosting and singing performances.
“Charlie has a very quirky personality and he has the audiences in stitches with his charismatic improvisations,” Gossett said.
“I haven’t seen a child so young command the attention of a ballroom filled with guests so naturally and uninhibited. He has a level of professionalism that is uncanny for one so young.”
Charlie’s natural skills have led to meeting the head of casting for Disney Channel Worldwide, Judy Taylor.
They schoolboy landed a role in a US feature film ‘Little Monsters’, written and directed by Aussie filmmaker Abe Forsythe.
Working alongside US stars Lupita Nyong’o and Josh Gad, Charlie impressed also the crew.
“This journey all began when Charlie heard a radio commercial for kids and teens who want to pursue serious acting and entertainment careers, “ his mum Alicia said.
“Charlie nagged me until I enrolled in him a talent development workshop in Sydney.”
