It will be time to lighten up and get into the festive spirit when Georges River Council launches its Christmas Lights Competition next week.
Last year’s inaugural Christmas lights competition brought plenty of light and colour to many neighbourhoods across the Georges River local government area.
And this year the competition has been expanded with the public getting the chance to vote for their favourite entries.
“We’ve changed the competition this year in order to give residents a say on which entries are the best and brightest,” Georges River Council mayor, Kevin Greene said.
“People can simply log in to Council’s ‘Your Say’ portal via the Council website and click on the Christmas Lights Competition portal, and cast their votes.
“We really enjoyed seeing the level of participation from the public last year when we launched the competition, and we hope to see even more entries this year.
“Best residential winners will receive a $500 gift voucher, and this could double to $1000 if they also take out the prize for Overall Best Residential display.
“Best Business or Commercial winners will receive a $1000 gift voucher, which is a great incentive to get shopfronts looking festive, so I encourage everyone to help spread some Christmas cheer by getting involved,” Cr Greene said.
Entries open on Monday 12 November, and registration is via ‘Your Say’ on Council’s website.
Nominations close Wednesday 28 November 2018 at 5.00pm. Late applications will not be accepted.
