Driver escapes serious injury when car crashes through wall of Taren Point supermarket

No injuries were reported when a car crashed through the wall of the IGA store at Taren Point today.

A witness said there was “a massive bang” when the accident occurred about 1.15pm.

Three police cars, two fire brigade units and two ambulances rushed to the scene.

The male driver, who is believed to have hit the accelerator by mistake, appeared uninjured, but was taken to hospital to be checked.

No staff nor customers were endangered.

It is understood the car did not enter the store.
