Shire snowboarder Max Vardy will head to the US in January to attempt to further his fledgling career at one of the largest winter sports clubs in North America.
Max will train with the Park City Snowboard Team before competing in the Nor-Am series, a series of races around the US.
It was always going to be difficult for the 15-year-old from Caringbah South to better his massive 2017.
But he still managed it, winning the Australian National Interschools boardercross title before heading to New Zealand and winning their national championship.
Max spent another season training at Perisher with the Winter Sports Academy which involves up to 35 hours per week training on snow plus gym sessions.
After securing second and third place finishes at the NSW Interschools titles, Max went on to win the Australian Interschool Championship before taking on the New Zealand junior nationals.
The year 9 Inaburra School student remains focused on qualifying for the 2020 Youth Olympics to be held in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Max has received great support from his school who help him to complete his school work remotely.
His long term goal is to compete on the world circuit and at the Olympics.
