On November 7 the NSW Government, through Roads and Maritime Services , announced that the F6 extension Stage I Environmental Impact Statement was available for public exhibition.
Residents have been only given 35 days to comment on such a weighty document.
It is now with much irony that I backed Best Solution, the Irish horse in the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups. I would suggest that the ‘‘best solution’’ for the NSW Government is to extend the period of community consultation.
Thirty five days is an impossible time period for a community already stretched to the limit with end of year commitments.
Residents affected by Westconnex were provided with 60 days to comment.
Bayside Council has asked for the community consultation to be extended to 90 days only to be refused. Ninety days would be more acceptable to the community, who have to digest a detailed document canvassing every aspect of the F6 Freeway.
It would show that the government is ‘‘ fair dinkum ‘‘about community consultation.
