Three Sydney South Hockey Association players have been chosen to represent NSW at the under-13 National Indoor Hockey Championships.
The titles, to be held at Goulburn in January, will feature Alex Singleton, Christine Flack and Chloe Holmes who were part of the Sydney South team that won the division two indoor hockey title at the recent NSW State Championships.
The team won all six games they played over three days in Orange, scoring 33 goals while only conceding four.
They thumped North West Sydney 6-1 in the final.
All three players represented NSW at the national championships in Hobart in October where they won the national title.
Sydney South representative director Craig Holmes was delighted with the association winning another state title.
“This result is a great outcome and reflects the effort that this team has put in,” he said.
“We have had a number of teams take out state titles this year but this is the first by one of our under-13 teams.”
The under-13s girls’s success repeated that of the under-15 girls indoor hockey team at the state championships in October. Both Stingray girls’ teams are now promoted to division one next year.
The Sydney South under-13 boys also had an excellent state championships. Playing at the highest level in division one, the boys won three of their four pool games to qualify for the semi-finals.
The Stingrays boys went down 5-2 to Parkes but their earlier results saw them placed third.
