Bayside Council’s beachfront education and enforcement program which started on Sunday, November 11 will see extra staff patrolling the Kyeemagh, Cook Park and Dolls Point areas.
During these patrols litter bags and Cook Park User Guides will be handed out to encourage visitors to dispose of litter responsibly.
The council will also be providing additional waste bins along the foreshore. These bins will be collected on a rotational roster and tipped daily.
Patrons will also be educated on the need to comply with park signage, dispose their litter and enjoy our beachfront responsibly. Parking enforcement is also carried out during these patrols.
Patrols are conducted both on foot and in vehicles in conjunction with Parks and Waste Team to adequately provide coverage to the beachfront area.
The council’s contracted Animal Management Officer will conduct patrols reminding animal owners of correct control methods and places where dogs are not allowed.
Off-leash and unattended animals will be impounded.
Water craft and irresponsible drivers of these vehicles should be reported to RMS and the Water Police and not Council Officers. Similarly driving matters are the responsibility of the NSW Police.
Fishing matters are the responsibility of Fisheries Inspectors and use of open flame BBQs on Fire Ban Days are the responsibility of NSW Fire Brigade.
Rangers do not deal with anti-social behaviour but will notify NSW Police for assistance if needed.
Bayside Council does not deal with the following issues that should be taken up with the relevant authorities:
Water craft — RMS and the Water Police;
Driving — NSW Police;
Fishing — Fisheries Inspectors;
Open flame BBQs on Fire Ban Days — NSW Fire Brigade.
