The future faces of health and business were celebrated this week at an annual graduation ceremony that introduced the next in line to ambitious careers.
The University of Wollongong, Southern Sydney (Loftus Campus) hosted the ceremony on Tuesday at Sutherland Entertainment Centre.
About 70 students – many from St George and Sutherland Shire, completed their degrees in fields including Bachelor of Nursing and Bachelor of Commerce.
One of the graduates, Hayley Urquhart, is now a qualified nurse. She was also recently selected in the Australian under-23 women’s boat crew to compete against New Zealand.
“I'm just happy to be finished my studies and eager to start work at St George Hospital in April,” she said.
Fellow graduates, Jennifer Cook and Madison Shaw, completed their studies side by side.
“We have been through high school and university, and now we have both graduated,” Ms Cook said. “We look forward to working together at Sutherland Hospital.”
Campus manager Melinda Tippett congratulated this year’s graduates.
“The graduation celebration provides a wonderful opportunity for southern Sydney students to celebrate with their peers, academics and campus support staff, who have shared in the challenges, triumphs and ultimate success that has led students to this special day,” she said.
