As Sydney continues to expand, more facilities are needed to service the increasing population. Shopping centres have long been favourites with their “one-stop-shop” approach, social lifestyle hubs are becoming increasingly popular with communities for their similar approach. After three years of careful planning, Menai and the surrounding suburbs are the latest to benefit from a multi-tenant lifestyle hub. A collaborative approach with Sutherland Shire Council and renowned local businesses including Innovative Architects, Wynne Planning and Profile Property Group has ensured that the building and space is best utilised for the community's needs
Dean Atgemis, Director of Macmahon Place Pty Ltd, said they were very happy with the results. “We’ve only had positive feedback from the community, and our current and prospective tenants. It's been a three year labour of love and we’re very grateful to all the people involved, and for the reception from locals,” he said.
The location, in Menai's commercial core right next to McDonald's, includes 70 new car spots with Dean saying it’s also a convenient option for surrounding suburbs. “The service our tenants will be providing will be the highest quality in the area with premium offerings catering for hundreds of families and individuals each day. We’re managing the tenant mix carefully with each operator able to add further amenity to customers of existing tenants”.
The multi-storey premises is already home to Anytime Fitness, with Bright Minds Academy finishing their child care centre fit out ready for their January opening. Waz Millar from Anytime Fitness said that MacMahon Place was the perfect fit for their business and clients. “The building delivers everything a gym member could need from a world class fitness centre,” he said. “Having just signed on as the major sponsor of Menai Roosters RLFC, our club manager Georgette has been overwhelmed by the support of the local community with over 1000 members already using the gym”.
Bright Minds Academy Operations Manager, Michele Laurie, was also excited about the new opportunity. “Our new state of the art children’s service will cater for children between the ages of six weeks to six years,” she said. “Our new premises has had no expense spared on the set up, including our sensational purpose built outdoor play area”.
Though the cafe operator has still not been chosen, agents are working toward having the best applicant ready to operate in early 2019. Leasing agent, Reno Santaguida of Highland Property said vacancies were still available on the ground floor of MacMahon Place for “businesses that can add value for visitors”.
