Bayside residents, ratepayers and interested parties are invited to have their say on planning for Bayside Council’s future by completing an online survey.

In accordance with amendments to the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 Bayside Council is required to prepare a Local Strategic Planning Statement before developing a new Local Environmental Plan and Development Control Plan for Bayside.

“We want to make sure that everyone within our community, should they wish, has the opportunity to learn about and have input into these documents that will shape our future,” Mayor Bill Saravinovski said.

The Local Strategic Planning Statement (LSPS) will set out council’s 20 year vision for Bayside taking into account the State Government’s Eastern City District Plan and the requirement to prepare a Local Housing Strategy. The draft document will go on exhibition in mid-2019.

Residents have until 31 January 2019 to complete the survey.

Council received a $2.5 million State Government grant for the project and have engaged the University of Technology’s (UTS) Centre of Local Government Excellence to conduct the community engagement component, including compiling and analysing the online survey.

UTS will also conduct a telephone survey of more than 100 randomly selected residents from across the Local Government Area.

UTS, together with Council’s strategic planning team, have already been engaging with business groups, advisory committees and resident and other interest groups from across the local government area getting feedback and insight into the community.

Anyone interested in learning or talking more about the formulation of the three documents can register online to become a Talking Bayside Member.
