The team at Sutherland Shire’s Civic Disability Services have a big bundle of responsibilities to deliver in the new year.
Civic Disability Services have won the contract to deliver 100,000 Baby Bundles to hospitals and new parents throughout NSW.
The Baby Bundles are part of the NSW Government’s $157 million parenting package.
The Baby Bundle is a bag filled with baby products and a selection of information to support the health, development and well-being of babies.
These will be given to parents and caregivers of every baby born in NSW from January 1, 2019.
The contents of the Baby Bundle includes a sleeping bag, play and change mats, muslin wrap, bath and room thermometers, baby toothbrush, breast pads, first aid kit, board books, face cloth, baby wipes, hand sanitiser and barrier cream.
The total retail value of each Baby Bundle is approximately $300.
Civic Disability Services won the Baby Bundles contract by competitive tender.
The organiation was founded in 1958 by a group of parents looking for meaningful activities for their adult children with disability.
The announcement of Civic’s successful winning of the Baby Bundles contract was made by NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian at Royal North Shore Hospital last week.
NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard, Civic’s acting chief executive officer Kate Smith, Civic Industries General Manager, Peter Moore and Civic’s supported employee, Barbara were among the guests at Sydney’s Royal North Shore hospital for the announcement.
The contract will see Civic expanding its 120-strong team of supported employees at Caringbah with an additional 15 positions.
Civic Industries general manager, Peter Moore said: “We believe that employing individuals with disability, with the appropriate support at their workplace, brings benefits to individuals, and society as a whole”.
