Blakehurst High School’s annual presentation night had extra special meaning this year.
As part of the ceremony, students were presented with awards for academic excellence in their study of Modern Greek from the Pan-Arcadian Association.
This year the school honoured former colleague, Toula Loizos, who they sadly lost in 2016.
Described by staff as a remarkable teacher who instilled a love for the Greek language and culture in her students, Mrs Loizos’s expertise and dedication was reflected in her consistently achieving outstanding results for her students in the HSC.
Just this week year 12 student Chrysanthi Diasionos received first in course for her study of Modern Greek Beginners in the 2018 NSW HSC awards.
To commemorate the teacher’s memory, the school established the Toula Loizos Memorial Award in her honour.
