A man, who was driving at Sutherland with two young children in the car, is alleged to have been four times over the alcohol limit.
The girls, aged two and three, were left in the care of an adult female passenger while the man was taken to Sutherland Police Station, where he was charged with high range drink-driving.
A police spokesman said a Mitsubishi Outlander was spotted driving erratically in Eton Street about 9.30am on Saturday.
“Police were contacted and stopped the vehicle further along Eton Street,” the spokesman said.
“The driver, a 34-year-old man, was spoken to and subjected to a roadside breath test, which returned a positive result.
“He was arrested and taken to Sutherland Police Station.
“Two girls in the car, aged two and three, were left in the care of an adult female passenger.
“The man was subject to a breath analysis, which allegedly returned a reading of 0.211.
“He was charged with high range PCA and his licence was suspended.”
The man is due appear at Sutherland Local Court on January 17.
Police notified the Family and Community Services (FACS).
