This year will be one of the most memorable for Jack and Gladys Jenkinson.
Not only are they celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary, but the Sans Souci couple will both turn the 89th corner together and mark their 90th birthdays come 2019.
But first, on December 18, they will mark a very happy union in marriage.
The Jenkinsons have lived in the same suburb since the 1950s. They met at a dance dall in Randwick four years earlier, and married in Grafton two years later.
In 1955 they moved to call St George home, where they raised their family, two children, Ian and Margaret. They have six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren – with more to follow.
Mr Jenkinson enjoys a round of golf, and Mrs Jenkinson likes a spot of fishing and gardening. Together they are regulars at the Taren Point Bowling Club for Sunday raffles, and also at St George Sailing Club and motor boat club.
The pair says that the success to a happy and long lasting marriage is “being best friends coupled with loyalty, teamwork and lots of laughter – over a few ports of course.”
