Bayside Council has approved $50,000 to be provided for the 2019 Bayside Acquisitive Sculpture Prize.
The prize is awarded to the winner of the Sculptures@Bayside exhibition which is held at Cook Park, Kyeemagh and is the centrepiece of the program of events for the annual Bayside Arts Festival which kicks off in April, 2019.
The month-long festival has more than 30 events and celebrates the creativity and artistic talent of the local community.
The festival includes a series of arts and cultural events, competitions, workshops and exhibitions.
Bayside Council is currently seeking applications from local arts and cultural groups, individuals and businesses, to get involved in this year’s festival.
Expressions of interest are encouraged from all artists and groups across the Bayside Local Government Area.
The reputation of the festival is growing year-by-year.
Last year’s festival saw a 200 per cent increase in visitors on the previous year with people travelling from the inner west and the north shore, as well as across the Bayside area to view the exhibition of 30 works featured in Sculptures@Bayside in Cook Park, Kyeemagh.
Those who want to participate in this year’s festival can contact Bayside Council’s Arts and Culture Officer, Caroline Cortes on 0447 097 502 or email caroline.cortes@bayside.nsw.gov.au.
