Motorists have been warned to expect changed traffic conditions on the M1 Princes Motorway on Mount Ousley from this weekend, as work to reduce the risk of flooding gets under way.
Temporary lane closures will be in place to allow for the drainage upgrades near New Mount Pleasant Road.
The work – to limit the danger of flooding on the busy motorway during heavy rainfall – will be done between 8pm and 4am from Sunday until January 24, weather permitting.
No work will be carried out on Friday or Saturday nights.
Traffic control and a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h will be in place.
During work hours, up to two northbound lanes will be closed to traffic. One northbound lane will remain open to traffic at all times.
