Shire resident Angelena Buck joined an elite group of centenarians and celebrated her 100th birthday on Saturday, January 12.
She celebrated her milestone birthday with a thanksgiving mass at St Brigid’s Catholic Church, Marrickville followed by a party at Illawong with friends and family including her three daughters and her grandchildren and great grandchildren many of whom had travelled from overseas to share the momentous occasion.
Angelena has been a nursing sister all her life. She emigrated to Australia in 1978 with her late husband, Donald.
Since retiring she involved herself with St Vincent de Paul Society where she forged many lifelong friendships.
Between her many hobbies Angelena loves to be out and about shopping.
She enjoys watching current affairs programs and her beloved soap Bold and Beautiful as well as reading about the Royal Family and the ever-unfolding scandals.
“Secrets of her longetivity are her family, friends and her renowned faith in God,” her daughter Shirley Gilfellon said.
“A wonderful day was had by all helping her celebrate this very special day.”
