More than 900 surf sports competitors from under-9s to Masters made their way to Wanda Beach from across Sydney and NSW with some coming from as far as Port Noralunga in South Australia and Anglesea in Victoria.
The carnival incorporates all traditional surf sports events including beach run and sprints, flags, swim, board, ironperson, R&R and march past.
Competitors were relieved Sydney’s heatwave finally broke with milder temperatures greeting athletes in the shire.

Britney Pierce continued her strong season with the Wanda product winning the open Ironwoman ahead of Cronulla’s Carla Papac, while North Cronulla’s Will Budd fended off club mate Ben Highfield to win the open Ironman title.

In the youngest age group, Cooks Hill Surf Lifesaving Club’s Sid Burns won the boys under-9s swim and board, while Wanda pocket rocket Zara Zammit Mayer won the under-9s girls swim and board.
It was the first year new events were also held for competitors with a disability in swim, wade, sprint and flags.
Wanda SLSC president Mark Sargeant said the carnival was about bringing together competitors of all ages including nippers, opens and masters in one event.
“It's great for the younger nippers to compete alongside the older athletes,” he said.
“They see role models still competing and having fun.
“Surf clubs are truly inter-generational, and that's what we hope to reinforce with this annual event.”
Wanda took out the overall point score followed by Elouera, Cronulla, North Bondi and North Cronulla.
Surf sports competition is getting to the business end of the season with Sydney, NSW and Australian titles all coming up in February, March and April respectively.
