About 250 people rallied last Saturday to voice support to save Carss Park Pool.
The future of the pool is uncertain with the draft Georges River Council Open Space Strategy considering several options for the site.
The rally was attended by Kogarah MP Chris Minns, Oatley MP Mark Coure, Councillor Con Hindi, former Carss Park pool coach Dick Caine and marathon swimmer Suzie Maroney.
Residents have collected almost 5000 signatures on an online petition calling for the pool to remain open, and another 2500 signatures on a paper petition. Mr Minns has received more than 1000 emails supporting the pool remaining open.
Rally organiser Kim Barclay said it was a great turnout in support of the pool.
“It was very positive. There were people with all different persectives on why the pool sould stay open,” she said.
Rally organisers are urging people to make submissions to the draft Georges River Open Space Strategy by March 1.
