Shannon Noll had a difficult 2018 but the year ended with some good news and the birth of his fourth child in December.
Noll and wife Rochelle, who have been married for 14 years, welcomed son Colton Keith Noll into the world on December 30.
In an exclusive interview with women’s magazine New Idea last month, Noll said he plans to make up for his past mistakes with his fourth child.
‘‘With the new baby, I’m going to have to change quite a bit,” Noll, 43, said. “I might have to scale back a bit so I can spend time with the family.”
Noll, who rose to fame on Australian Idol in 2003, was glad to see the back of 2018 which culminated in a court appearance for cocaine possession in October.
The singer, who calls the Sutherland Shire home, had been caught with a half a gram of the drug during a night out at the Caringbah Hotel a month earlier.
The former reality TV star pleaded guilty and received a 12 month good behaviour bond after producing evidence he was suffering a "severe case" of depression.
Noll’s drug possession came after a series of incidents at live shows, including footage emerging last July of the singer threatening violence towards audience members throwing beer cans during a show at the Duck Creek Picnic Races.
There’s no doubt the last few years have been a bumpy road for Noll but the former I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! contestant is keen to put the past behind him.
“With all the turmoil and all the crap I’m copping at the moment, I just think of all the good things going on in my career and personal life, and that’s what keeps me going,” Noll told New Idea.
Of having a newborn in the household again, Noll admits a lot has changed in 17 years.
“I have to pay the bills, so it’s finding that perfect balance,” he told New Idea of juggling his career and fatherhood.
“This time I have to work smarter not harder, because I don’t want to miss out on seeing my boy grow up as I felt I missed out on my other kids growing up before.”
But proving babies really are miracles, Noll, Rochelle, Cody, 17, Blake, 15, Sienna, 11, and baby Colton are now a happy family of six.
“The fourth time round I feel like a grandparent – it’s been a while,” Noll jokes.
To celebrate Unbroken, his first new album in seven years which was released in early 2018, Noll will hit the road with his band this year, doing what he loves best.
“I’m champing at the bit to go play them live,” Noll says.
‘‘I’m singing better than I ever have and the band is cooking. It’s back to the days of being lots of fun, rather than worrying about what’s around the corner.’’
Shannon Noll’s Unbroken Tour stops at the Miranda Hotel on February 15.
