Cronulla’s junior representative teams endured a tough start to the season after they were swept by the Illawarra Steelers at Shark Park on Saturday.
Cronulla are defending Tarsha Gale Cup premiers but their young and inexperienced new-look side were beaten 56-14, unable to stop the rampaging Steelers.
The Matthews Cup (under-16s) boys were their own worst enemies in going down 16-12.
While the SG Ball (under-18s) Sharks were overrun in the second half as they were well-beaten 36-4 by a slick Illawarra outfit.
