Cronulla restaurant and function venue JD’s Bar & Grill has won council approval for a midnight lockout on Friday and Saturday nights.
At present, the upstairs nightspot at the top of the mall has to close the doors to new arrivals at 11pm.
There will be no change to the existing 1am closing time.
Sutherland Shire Council council said an updated plan of management included details of security management, CCTV requirements, crime scene preservation, incident recording, responsible service of alcohol and the prevention of underage drinking.
The plan of management was "now in line with the recommendations of NSW Police and will be required to be adhered to as a condition".
"The change in time for the ‘shut out’ does not alter or extend the approved hours of operation of the premises and is not considered to have a significant impact on the amenity of the Cronulla Town centre."
JD's licensee and joint owner John Quinlan said the decision brought the venue into line with "everyone else in Cronulla, who has a midnight or 12.30am lockout".
"We have been really hurting," he said.
The 11pm lockout came into effect in early 2018 when the council refused JD's an extension of 3am closing on weekends, and moved it back to 1am.
