Two people have been charged after more than $3 million worth of cannabis and more than $70,000 in cash were seized during search warrants across Sydney, including Hurstville, Kingsgrove, Kogarah and Penshurst on Thursday.
Strike Force Grassy investigators executed 12 search warrants and located and seized $72,000 in cash, 1109 cannabis plants, and 10kg of cannabis leaves from the properties.
The seized prohibited drugs have an estimated potential street value of nearly $3,378,000.
Officers arrested a 43-year-old Chester Hill man and a 33-year-old Canley Vale woman at separate homes, and they were taken to Fairfield Police Station.
The man was charged with five counts of cultivate prohibited plant, supply prohibited drug, deal with proceeds of crime, and participate in a criminal group.
The woman was charged with three counts of cultivate prohibited plant, deal with proceeds of crime, and participate in a criminal group.
The pair were refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court today, Friday.
Homes at Campsie, Wentworthville, Homebush, Chester Hill, Canley Vale and Old Guildford were also searched.
Strike Force Grassy was established in 2011 by detectives from Redfern Region Enforcement Squad (RES) to investigate the indoor cultivation of cannabis across the Central Metropolitan Region.
To date, Strike Force Grassy have seized 15,528 cannabis plants, which have an estimated potential street value of $47.8 million.
