The annual seniors luncheon, which was held in the Sutherland Entertainment Centre on Tuesday, was booked out in less than 24 hours.
Sutherland Shire Council, which puts on the free Seniors Week meal and entertainment, said the response showed just how popular the event had become.
Nearly 500 seniors were treated to a performance of Practically Perfect – The Music of Julie Andrews.
Students from St Patrick's College, Nicola De Sensei and Josh Summers, led the singing of the National Anthem and also led the singing of Happy Birthday to the 17 centenarians - the guests aged 100 or over.
The number of centenarians was down slightly from the 21 who attended in each of the last two years, but was way more than the 10 in 2012.
Frank Mawer, 106, who was born in 1912, the year the Titanic sank, was the the oldest of this year's group.
Mr Mawer, of Gymea, whose rich life has been reported previously by the Leader, remains very active and independent.
He cooks his own meals, enjoys socialising with friends, loves going on holidays and flies to Melbourne once a year to visit his two daughters and their families.
Mayor Carmelo Pesce said the seniors luncheon was one of the most popular events on the council’s calendar and concluded a very successful Seniors Festival.
