UPDATE
An unlicensed driver involved in a crash at Peakhurst in which two women were killed has been charged with multiple offences including two counts of manslaughter, high range drink-driving, drinking alcohol while driving and stealing the 4WD vehicle he was driving.
One of the victims of the crash on Henry Lawson Drive on Tuesday night was Gayle Gibson, of Padstow Heights, a long-serving teacher at Canterbury Girls' High School.
Her husband Tony Giorgio, a teacher at Picnic Point High School, was seriously injured along with a fourth person in their vehicle.
The second victim of the crash and the woman who was injured were visiting from Queensland.
A statement on the Canterbury Girls' High School website by principal Sue Holden read:
"Unfortunately we have today received some very sad news. Ms Gayle Gibson, a long standing member of staff, has passed away overnight in a tragic traffic accident. Ms Gibson was a much loved member of staff and a former Head Teacher. Our sincere condolences go out to her family."
An updated police statement said:
A man will face court on manslaughter charges tomorrow after two women lost their lives in a collision between an allegedly stolen 4WD and sedan in Sydney’s south.
The 21-year-old man is the alleged driver of a stolen Landcruiser involved in a crash with a Honda Jazz on Henry Lawson Drive, Peakhurst, shortly before 8pm (Tuesday 12 March 2019).
Passing motorists stopped and assisted those involved; however, the driver of the Jazz, a 66-year-old woman from Runaway Bay in Queensland, and a 62-year-old Padstow Heights woman seated behind her, were critically injured and died at the scene.
The front-seat passenger, a 58-year-old Padstow Heights man, and a 62-year-old woman, also from Runaway Bay, seated in the back seat, were taken to St George Hospital where they remain in a stable condition.
Officers from Crash Investigation Unit charged the 21-year-old Revesby man with a number of offences including manslaughter (x2), aggravated dangerous driving causing death (x2), aggravated dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm (x2), take and drive conveyance, high range PCA, fail to stop and render assistance after impact causing death (x2) and consume alcohol while driving.
He was refused police bail and will appear in Sutherland Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 14 March 2019).

The unlicensed driver of a stolen vehicle remains under police guard in hospital as investigations continue into the death of two women in a crash at Peakhurst overnight.
The 21-year-old man is the alleged driver of a stolen Landcruiser involved in a crash with a Honda Jazz on Henry Lawson Drive, Peakhurst, shortly before 8pm on Tuesday.

Police will allege the driver of the Landcruiser left the scene but was followed by members of the public who had called Triple Zero (000).
Officers from St George Police Area Command arrested the man a short time later in Park Street.
The man, from Revesby, returned a positive roadside breath test and was taken to Kogarah Police Station where a breath analysis returned a reading of 0.166. A check revealed the man has never held a NSW driver’s licence.
The man was then taken to St George Hospital for mandatory testing and was admitted for observation. He remains there under police guard.
The Landcruiser was reported stolen from outside a home in Monterey about 2.40am Monday 11 March 2019.

Two women have died in a crash at Peakhurst involving another car that was believed to be stolen.
The male driver, 21, of the second vehicle, a 4WD Toyota Landcruiser, was arrested in a street nearby about 30 minutes after the accident on Henry Lawson Drive about 8pm on Tuesday.
Police believe the gold Landcruiser crossed onto the wrong side of the road and travelled about 70 metres before crashing into a concrete barrier and then into a Honda sedan, The Sydney Morning Herald reported.
Police are investigating whether speed and alcohol were involved.
Shortly before 8pm on Tuesday, emergency services were called to Henry Lawson Drive, Peakhurst," a police spokesman said.
"The female driver of a Honda sedan, a 66-year-old woman, and her female passenger, a 62-year-old woman, died at the scene.
"The remaining passengers, a 62-year-old woman, and a 58-year-old man, were taken to St George Hospital for treatment where they remain in a stable condition.
"Officers from St George Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.
"Officers from Crash Investigation Unit attended the scene and were investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
"About 8.30pm, a 20-year-old man, the driver and sole occupant of a Toyota Landcruiser, believed to be stolen, was arrested nearby on Park Street," he said.
"He was taken to St George Hospital for treatment. He has since been released and was taken to St George Police Station to undergo a breath analysis."
West bound lanes were closed on Henry Lawson Drive, with an east bound lane remaining open.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
